Two days. One frozen canyon town. A crew of brothers and a whole lot of ice.
Every November, climbers from all over come to Cooke City, Montana, for the Cooke City Ice Festival. We’re going too. This is Based Adventures at its simplest: good men, cold air, steep ice and a warm place to crash at the end of the day.
We’ll spend the days swinging tools on the region’s early-season ice. Nights are for the fire, cold drinks, festival events and the kind of conversation that only happens when your forearms are shot and your boots are drying by the heater. It’s the kickoff to winter, done right.
What it is
This is a non-guided, climb-with-your-crew weekend. There are no instructors and no hand-holding. You come as a capable climber, partner up, and climb within your own limits. Everyone climbs at his own risk and signs a waiver.
Your $210 covers
Two nights of lodging in Cooke City (Nov 27–29), shared with the crew.
You bring
Your own ice climbing gear (tools, crampons, harness, helmet, ropes and protection as your partnership requires), the experience to use it, and good energy.
Who it’s for
Men with prior ice or alpine climbing experience who want to climb hard, laugh harder and start the winter with their brothers.
